Imagem music announces new publishing agreement with Steve Miller and Sailor Music

Imagem Music today announces a new multi-year publishing administration agreement with Steve Miller’s catalogue Sailor Music and Silk Stocking Music. The deal, effective 1 January 2016, is for the world excluding North America. The news coincides with the announcement that Miller will be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame later this year.

Formed in 1968 in San Francisco, The Steve Miller Band has been a mainstay of the American music scene for over five decades. Having released 21 albums, from their debut Children Of The Future, through to Sailor, Brave New World, Your Saving Grace, Number 5, Rock Love, The Joker, Fly Like An Eagle, Book Of Dreams. Their Greatest Hits 1974-1978 is listed in the RIAA’s top 100 best-selling albums of all time and his catalogue of music has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide.

As the backbone of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late sixties, in the seventies, Miller crafted a brand of pure pop that was polished, exciting and irresistible with songs that dominated radio in a way that few artists have ever managed.

This extensive and distinctive catalogue is filled with songs that are still instantly recognizable and loved the world over.  Miller’s classic songs include “Fly Like an Eagle”, “Jet Airliner”, “Take The Money and Run”, “The Joker”, “Rock’n Me”, “Abracadabra”, “Livin’ in the USA”, “Space Cowboy”, “Serenade”, “Dance, Dance, Dance”, “True Fine Love”, “The Stake”, “Swingtown”, “Heart Like A Wheel”, “I Want To Make The World Turn Around” and many others. The Steve Miller band is as active today as they ever were and tours regularly each year.

André de Raaff, Group CEO, Imagem commented “I know Steve personally since the beginning of the 90’s releasing his Best Of album in Europe, when I was CEO of Arcade and was looking after his music publishing catalogue in Europe. We stayed friends and started doing business again a few years ago. I’m pleased that we are going to look after his catalogue on a more global basis and I’m convinced that we will be extremely successful with his timeless compositions. Steve is one of the best US pop composers of our times and an exceptional guitar player as well. Janice is a unique force in reactivating his extremely valuable music assets.”

Janice Ginsberg Miller, president of Sailor Music and Records commented “We have been working successfully the last few years with CTM/Imagem in the Benelux and are very pleased to have the opportunity to expand our publishing administration to multiple territories with Imagem, especially looking forward to working with André and his expert team.”
