Yes-R (Amsterdam, 1986) is a Dutch singer, rapper and TV-personality. Coming from the urban ‘underground’ scene, he has become a well-respected artist, frequently featuring as a guest in talk- and music shows. His videoclips are one of the best viewed of any Dutch music-artist!
Shooting this year the third season of his own TV-format ‘Mad About You’, he will later this year star in his own ‘reality’-show about his quest in the dance-world. Performing with DJ Chucky and meeting up with Afrojack, Yes-R is turning international.
In 2004, by surprise, Yes-R won the prestigious “The Dutch Awards” as best new-comer which jumpstarted his career. His first single was released shortly thereafter and with his second release, together with Ali B, he topped the Dutch charts.
From his debut album ‘My Path’ (2005) three single were released and made him known to an even broader audience. His fame became even greater after the release of the remix hit single ‘Ghetto’ together with Akon.
In 2006 Yes-R’s other talent, acting, was discovered, when he starred as leading male in the boxofficehit ‘Een Beetje Veliefd’. Yes-R also wrote the soundtrack for this movie, which was a huge hit in the Dutch single chart.
In 2007 Yes-R released his second album ‘Zakenman’. On this album Yes-R showed his new style, which was a mix of rap and singing. The single ‘Hey schatje” was the most viewed Dutch video of 2007 on Youtube.
His next single release ‘Uit Elkaar’ broke every record; todate this clip was viewed over 17 million time on youtube alone. This song topped the charts in South-America in 2008.
Based on this success Dutch broadcaster lined and Yes-R was guest-starring in various programs and presented his own tv-show on National television. In 2008 he had very successful real-life soap which ran on the internet channel of MSN.
In 2009 Yes-R continued releasing several singles and a mix-tape, but mainly concentrated on acting. He finished two more movies, one as the leading character in a film called ‘Gangsterboys’, directed by Paul Ruven (early 2010).
In Holland his popularity grew enormously since his first appearance in 2004; his fanbase brought him over 260.000 contacts on Hyves (Facebook). They also follow his tweets on twitter. Yes-R is frontrunner in the new media.
In 2010 the movie ‘Gansterboys’ premiered in theaters nationwide. Within a month, the movie reached the ‘Golden’ level with 150,000 visitors. His next movie is scheduled for 2013.
During 2011 worked on his next album called ‘Fashion’ which has been released in September 2012.
